While each and every one of Nancy's case files will always have a place in each fan's heart, there are some that were much more well-loved than others. Time to revisit a personal top fifteen favorites list. Lots of room to explore and stretch Nancy's legs, as it were. It's plenty long, though never long enough when you're enjoying it. It ranks up there with the biggies: Royal Tower, Haunted Mansion, Blackmoor Manor, and Deception Island. Now that there are 32 main games and a Salem, MA-based mystery coming out in November, it's time to bare all and rank our favorite playthroughs. Open Guide Summary A terrifying myth comes alive in Germany but everyones favorite teen detective, Nancy Drew, is on the case in the latest mystery adventure game from award-winning developer Her. As usual there are ghostly/paranormal elements but Nancy never loses her head. When that title screen loads and the theme music signifying a brilliant mystery begins, all of sudden, we all become Junior (or Senior) detectives. It's true it's not a game to recommend as a first game, but I still find it an enjoyable, solid entry in the series. An avid Nancy Drew fan will report, there are simply no 'bad' games by Her Interactive. And I think both minigames are fun (something that isn't true for other games), it's a longer game, and even though there isn't a stand out puzzle, the puzzles are still fun. I ragged on that one part of the castle, but there is good exploration in other parts of the castle. Markus could have easily been a throwaway character like a few others that hired Nancy, but his connection to Anja makes both of them more interesting. None of them feel useless or seem out of place. With the negatives out of the way, I love the characters in this game. There is also usually one puzzle in a game I really love, but none of the puzzles here stand out to me. There is also a cut scene that needs to happen to progress at a certain point, but triggering it is an incredible pain. The game also exposes players to German culture, folklore, and language. The story, in which Nancy investigates reports of a monster terrorizing the community, contains some scary moments and mild violence. The puzzles in The Captive Curse are a definite high point. The game offers two modes of difficulty, and both contain challenging puzzles and mini-games that can't be skipped. Overall I like it but I do have some issues with it. All of the characters seem to be hiding something and it’s up to Nancy to find out what.
